Business Development
Bernie is a Business Development Manager/Senior Sales Consultant for Vitex, Inc., an organization of member banks and bank management consultants dedicated to assisting community bank and credit union executives achieve their strategic business objectives through vision, leadership, and effective selection and deployment of technology.
Bernie began his sales career at the Burroughs Corporation in 1978. He quickly advanced to regional manager in the New England District. He obtained “Legion of Honor” status for all 7 years with the company. In the past 30 years, Bernie has sold and consulted to over 2,000 financial institutions with over 50 technology products and services including core processing systems, home banking, card services, CRM, project management, IVR, call center software, general ledger, document management, outsource IT resources, target marketing software, web design products, knowledgebase, security, and business continuity to name a few.
Bernie has worked with over 100 IT vendors who specialize in financial institutions on a contract basis and has a depth of knowledge in order to provide Vitex the expertise required to assist any size institution. In 1989, he received the annual achievement award for sales and new business development by Harvard Business School. In 1996, Bernie was one of the first to create an exclusive VAR alliance network with Microsoft in the financial services market under the name of WinTech, Inc. In 2002, he founded BD and Associates to provide sales training and consulting to Fortune 500 companies.
Bernie is a graduate of Mt. St. Charles Academy of Woonsocket, RI and Providence College in Providence, RI. He resides in Tampa, Florida with his wife Anne and three children (Scott, Jessica, and Nicole). In addition to his sales experience, Bernie is an USA Hockey certified hockey coach and scout. He also enjoys golf, sailing, and playing keyboard in a local blues band.
